Musicians for Musicians...
Music Central is a family run business. Owner Trevor Bernhardt has over
30 years experience in one form of music or another. He started playing in high
school, and joined many bands as a young player. As life played
out, he began repairing and building electric guitars.
For two years he was
a one on one guitar teacher at a prestigious private college. Before opening Music
Central he owned and operated a P.A. and light hire business. He also spent over twelve
years with a highly successful music store, as the “guitar guy”.
It was during this time
that he demonstrated at many workshops and clinics. Often sharing the stage with
many “name” players and “guns for hire”. Trevor basically is a 'tell it like it is' kind of guy.
“I can only give advice from my own experience. I am probably not a great salesman.A sales rep gave me a great compliment at one time. He said that I reminded him of
another guy he worked with. When I asked why he thought we where similar, he
answered: "You have a conscience as well.”
“I'd prefer to have customers come
back to us, because we have a sense of humour, offer as much advice as we can, and
back it all up with great pricing”.
The shop is also manned by Trevor’s son Mitch, who's been playing for a number of years, and knows his way around the fret board really well.
Trevor’s wife looks after the accounting side of things and keeps her men in line.
Trevor’s youngest son began on bass a few years ago, but now seems to be going for
more six string playing.
“Musicians for Musicians” is the store logo, and their priority. “As musicians
we are all part of a universal brotherhood. We should all be able to help and advise
each other and support each other's work.”
“It's about passion, not ego. I see guys
just starting out. Playing their first riffs and I smile inside knowing their
adventure is just beginning.” |
